School of Aeronautics and Astronautics student Kevin Vuong has been awarded the Charles C. Chappelle Graduate Fellowship for the 2015-16 academic year. The Chappelle Fellowship is a highly competitive and prestigious award which encourages Purdue alumni to pursue graduate research at Purdue.

Dr. Michael Sangid, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics faculty member, has been selected for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Orr Early Career Award. This honor comes in recognition of Dr. Sangid's seminal contributions to the area of experimental and computational fatigue, fracture, and creep.

Lava tubes large enough to house cities could be structurally stable on the moon, according to a theoretical study presented at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Purdue University's National and International Scholarships Office has announced the winners of the 2015 Barry Goldwater Scholarship. This year's winners include Sam Otto, a junior from Pittsburg, PA with a double major in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering and Mathematics (College of Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering/College of Science, Department of Mathematics).
