Purdue scientists have discovered a large, previously unknown lunar nearside crater revealed as part of NASA's Discovery Program, the Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) Gradiometry. The team includes two professors and four students: Rohan Sood and Loic Chappaz are Ph.D. students under Professor Kathleen Howell in the School of AAE. Dave Blair is a Ph.D. student in EAPS; Colleen Milbury is a Post-doc in EAPS and they are working with Prof. Jay Melosh (EAPS and courtesy Prof. in AAE).

Purdue School of AAE's unique undergraduate class, AAE 418 "Zero-gravity Flight Experiment," has been selected by NASA as part of a nationwide competition to develop and test a prototype asteroid chipping tool.

School of Aeronautics and Astronautics doctoral students Sangjin Lee and Saad Tanvir have been awarded the Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship for the 2015-16 academic year.

Purdue University's National and International Scholarships Office has announced the winners of the 2015 Barry Goldwater Scholarship. This year's winners include Sam Otto, a junior from Pittsburg, PA with a double major in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering and Mathematics (College of Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering/College of Science, Department of Mathematics).

Purdue University is expanding the nation's largest university propulsion laboratory for research aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions for next-generation jet engines. The expansion at the Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories will include new test cells to support laser-based measurements in a building to be constructed adjacent to Zucrow's high-pressure lab. Developed in 1964 as part of NASA's Apollo program, the high-pressure lab houses research sponsored by aerospace companies, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and other agencies.

The biggest cash donation in Purdue University's history will fund initiatives designed to foster groundbreaking research, expand high-tech job growth throughout Indiana as well as nationally and globally, and enhance opportunities for students.

Lilly Endowment Inc. announced Wednesday (Feb. 18) a $40 million grant to support five transformational projects in the College of Engineering and Technology as well as Purdue Libraries.

Purdue School of Aeronautics and Astronautics congratulates Dr. Raymond R. Cosner (BSAAE'72; MSAAE'72) and Dr. Anthony Thornton (Ph.D.'92) on their selection as 2015 Distinguished Engineering Alumni.
