AAE alumna on Blue Origin team selected for Collier Trophy

AAE alumna Dr. Yen Matsutomi represented the Blue Origin New Shepard team at the competition for the 2016 Robert J. Collier Trophy. The Blue Shepard won the award, which is presented annually by the National Aeronautic Association.

AAE project with West Lafayette students ready for lift-off

For more than two years, AAE students in Prof. Collicott's Zero-Gravity Flight Experiment class have helped West Lafayette second graders perfect an experiment testing whether the Say’s Firefly can glow in a zero-gravity environment. A rocket with the experiment is expected to launch later this year.

AAE Associate Prof. Dominick Andrisani is retiring after 37 years of service to the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. A retirement reception in his honor was held April 27, 2017 in the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.

AAE students win Fall 2016 Orbital ATK S.P.A.C.E. Awards

A team of students from AAE 251- Introduction to Aerospace Design has been chosen as the winner of the Fall 2016 Orbital ATK S.P.A.C.E. Awards. Student teams in the class were tasked with designing an undenied supply delivery system (USDS) that is capable of delivering a 2,000 kg payload anywhere on Earth with notable populations.

Research leader tapped as new dean for Purdue College of Engineering

Purdue University has chosen an award-winning researcher in networks engineering and a leader in educational innovations from Princeton University as the next dean of the College of Engineering. Mung Chiang will assume the position of John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering on July 1.

Purdue AAE Prof. Michael Sangid has won a 2017 Faculty Early Career Development award from the National Science Foundation. The CAREER award is one of the most prestigious NSF honors for outstanding young researchers.

AAE faculty members promoted to full professor

Two AAE faculty members have been promoted to full professor. The promotions of Dr. James L. Garrison and Dr. Wenbin Yu were approved by the Purdue University Board of Trustees at a meeting April 21. The promotions are effective starting with the 2017-2018 academic year.

Several AAE graduate students are recipients of annual awards from Purdue's College of Engineering. Awards were presented at the Graduate Student Research, Teaching, and Service Awards ceremony April 19th.
