March 2010

Professor Martin Corless was awarded the title Adjunct Honorary Professor in the Hamilton Institute at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Ireland

June 2010

Professor Wayne Chen was a keynote lecturer at the Society for Experimental Mechanics 2010 Annual Conference and Exposition in Indianapolis, June 7-10, 2010. Prof. Chen presented ‘Dynamic Material Characterization with Kolsky Bars’. Prof. Chen is a University Faculty Scholar, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a member of the United State National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

June 2010

Professor William Anderson was invited to lecture on rocket engine heat transfer and combustion instability at the La Sapienza Workshop on Space Propulsion in Rome, Italy.

July 2010

Associate Professor Inseok Hwang received the AIAA Special Service Citation from AIAA for the outstanding leadership and dedication in organizing the 2010 Region III Student Paper Conference at Purdue University, this past July.

Professor William Anderson served as a panel member and was invited to do a presentation on “Research Needs in Liquid Rocket Engines – An Academic Viewpoint” at the 46th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference
