What are your job duties? At work I am responsible for completing the same tasks as my colleagues. On this rotation that includes providing engineering support for issues found with aircraft currently in the fleet. During past rotations it has meant developing certification documents and completing lab trials for research and development efforts.
Why did you want to do this co-op? Gulfstream Aerospace has a reputation for excellence that was very appealing to me. Their products are the best in the business and therefore they have a top-notch engineering program.
What do you hope to gain from the experience? I hope to learn about the responsibilities and expectations of an engineer in the work-force. Gaining these skills now will allow me to tailor my academic experience to help me become a better engineer in the future.
What are your ultimate career goals? Ultimately, I would like to become an engineer at an aviation company working with a team of other engineers to create the aircraft of the future. My main interest is in aircraft that are smaller in physical size than the commercial airliners. I would like to work on the structures or aerodynamics portions, but also find systems and integration very interesting.
