The Aviation Research Division of the Federal Aviation Administration has chosen Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAE) graduate student Tejas Pant for its Center of Excellence Summer Experience program, which operates as one of the projects of the Partnership to Enhance General Aviation Safety, Accessibility and Sustainability (PEGASAS), the FAA’s Center of Excellence for General Aviation.

Pant will work as full-time graduate researcher at the William J. Hughes FAA Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey over the summer.

Pant is a student of AAE Prof. Haifeng Wang. Pant says he is thankful to PEGASAS for providing him this unique opportunity to further his research.

“Most small scale aviation applications use lead based fuels today,” says Pant. “My research will be focused on developing numerical tools for studying combustion of unleaded, environmentally friendly alternative fuels.”

The mission of PEGASAS is to enhance general aviation safety, accessibility, and sustainability by partnering the FAA with a national network of world-class researchers, educators and industry leaders. AAE Prof. William Crossley is the director for PEGASAS.
