AAE Assoc. Prof. Jonathan Poggie quoted in Aviation Week article
Associate Professor Jonathan Poggie was recently quoted in an Aviation Week article about NASA's crowd source challenge to speed up the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code FUN3D. The article, titled "NASA Challenges Crowd To Speed Up Iconic CFD Software" and published May 17, 2017, is available here (subscription required).
Poggie's current CFD research includes a project on the effect of facility noise on hypersonic laminar-turbulent transition (funded by the Office of Naval Research) and a project on understanding and controlling separation unsteadiness in supersonic turbulent flow (funded by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and a Department of Energy INCITE Award). As a member of Purdue's Cold Plasmas Preeminent Team, he also works on the application of electrical discharges for flow control and combustion enhancement. Poggie joined the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2015 after a long career with the Air Force Research Laboratory.
