As a part of Penn State’s Fluid Dynamics Research Consortium, AAE Prof. Carson Slabaugh presented a talk on pressure gain combustion (PGC) for advanced energy systems.

PGC is set to become a disruptive technology to improve the cleanliness and efficiency of hydrocarbon combustion engines.

During his talk, Slabaugh focused on the challenges, insights and unexpected results from his DOE-NETL funded work on the topic (with Co-PI Prof. Heister).  

Slabaugh discussed his team’s recent work with rotation detonation engines (RDE), which have shown great promise for realizing PGC in a practical device.
