Dr. Zoltan Nagy to receive 2019 AIChE PD2M Award

Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Professor Zoltan Nagy has been selected to receive the 2019 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Pharmaceutical Discovery Development and Manufacturing (PD2M) Forum Award for Outstanding Contribution to QbD for Drug Substance in recognition of his field-leading advances in crystallization systems and drug product process intensification.

Sponsored by Scale-up Systems, the AIChE PD2M Outstanding Contribution to QbD for Drug Substance Award is highly competitive, and is presented based on contributions within industry, academia, regulatory, or other relevant work environments. Nominations are received from around the world.

The award was announced by Dr. Tim Boung Wook Lee, Scientific Investigator, Microbial and Cell Culture Development with GSK, on behalf of the AIChE PD2M Forum Awards Committee.

Dr. Nagy is honored to receive this prestigious award that recognizes his pioneering contributions through his research, teaching and administration to the design and application of advanced control and process intensification technologies for the development of modern pharmaceutical processes.

Nominees for the PD2M Award have a track record of publications, articles, and white papers in Quality by Design (QbD) discovery, development, and manufacturing. They must also have visibility and credibility in the field, as shown through presentations and leadership at professional conferences, topical, and alliance meetings, and/or other public forums. Demonstrated impact of the nominee’s work in industry approaches and strategies in QbD development also influence selection for the award.

The 2019 AIChE PD2M Drug Substance Award includes $1,500 and a commemorative plaque. Dr. Nagy will receive the award at the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting in November 10-15 in Orlando, Florida.
