Davidson School of Chemical Engineering undergraduate student Ashley King was recently awarded the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) John Deere Scholarship.

The SWE John Deere Scholarship is awarded to female applicants planning to study full time in engineering, technology, or computing.

King is a senior, graduating in May 2021 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. She was selected for the Scholarship through a rigorous application process, which required a personal essay and two letters of recommendation.

King also serves as President of the Purdue chapter of The American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In this leadership role, King appreciates the opportunities she has received since joining the student organization during her freshman year. “I have seen the Purdue AlChE organization as a whole grow significantly in the past four years,” said King. “And now, by filling a larger role in our leadership structure, I am able to be a catalyst in helping it grow even further.”
