Chemical engineering launches new data science concentration
The Davidson School of Chemical Engineering (ChE) will launch a new Data Science Concentration for student enrollment this upcoming fall semester.
The new program addresses an educational gap that currently exists between chemical engineering and emerging data science applications. Notable courses comprising the concentration include: Data Science in Chemical Engineering, Optimization in Chemical Engineering, Computer-Integrated Process Operations, Intelligent Systems in Process Engineering, Process Synthesis, and Advanced Process Control.
The Data Science concentration is the latest addition to ChE’s Professional M.S. Program (PMP), a one-year, non-thesis program designed to educate future industry leaders through a combination of advanced technical and business coursework. In the PMP, students align their curriculum with a chosen concentration that best serves their interests and career goals, with Data Science being one of seven concentrations now available for students to pursue.
Students must apply for admission to the PMP to pursue the new Data Science concentration. The GRE requirement is waived for all applicants applying for both January 2022 and August 2022 admission.
