His work addresses the critical need for objective diagnostic tools for blast-related hearing deficits, which impact both military and civilian populations. Using a chinchilla model, Fernando is investigating how both peripheral and central auditory damage contribute to hidden hearing difficulties. This research is an important step toward developing early diagnostic tools for mild-to-moderate TBI.
