History

Founded in 1969 as the nation’s first program of its kind, Purdue’s Women in Engineering (WiE) Program has inspired and supported generations of students pursuing engineering. WiE has been a model for student success programs across campus and at other universities. Purdue takes pride in graduating one of the largest cohorts of women engineers in the nation each year. To date, the College of Engineering has granted more than 15,000 engineering degrees to women, due in large part to the WiE Program's efforts.

Mission

WiE at Purdue University is dedicated to cultivating awareness and interest in engineering among young learners, connecting students to campus to encourage enrollment in Purdue Engineering, and promoting student success by facilitating professional development and community building.

WiE pursues these aims through engaging experiences and meaningful connections within the College of Engineering and among the broader Purdue Engineering network.
