Purdue Nuclear Engineering Capstone Design Project

Hands-on learning through real-world applications is a cornerstone of the Purdue Nuclear Engineering experience. Senior students showcased their technical knowledge, innovation, and teamwork through industry-sponsored capstone projects, addressing current challenges in nuclear engineering. Purdue Nuclear Engineering leads nuclear power innovations

Purdue University's School of Nuclear Engineering is spearheading advancements in nuclear power through initiatives such as conducting pioneering experiments at Indiana’s only nuclear reactor, leading a $6 million Department of Energy-funded research project on small modular reactors (SMRs), and collaborating with Duke Energy to explore the feasibility of SMRs for the university's campus, all aimed at enhancing energy sustainability and innovation.

School of Nuclear Engineering and College of Engineering Co-hosts Dr. Ronald Latanision

The School of Nuclear Engineering and College of Engineering co-hosted Dr.Ronald Latanision, Neil Armstrong Distinguished Visiting Professor, for a lecture on April 16, 2025. It was sponsored by the School of Nuclear Engineering for the 2024–2025 academic year and The Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering for the 2023–2024 and 2025-2026 academic years. The event took place in Forney Hall of Chemical Engineering and focused on the evolving role of technology in society.

The College of Engineering recognized faculty, lecturers, and other staff for outstanding dedication to teaching students in a Purdue Exponent ad on January 13, 2025. Among those recognized were Nuclear Engineering professors Dr. Stylianos Chatzidakis and Dr. Yunlin Xu.
