Sundaram is inaugural recipient of Graduate Research Recognition Seminar Award

Arvind Sundaram, doctoral candidate at the School of Nuclear Engineering (NE), is the department’s inaugural recipient of the Graduate Research Recognition Seminar Award. Starting this year, the award will be given annually to graduate students according to specified merit.

He received the award during the recognition seminar titled, “Making smart industry smarter.” The talk introduced a novel cybersecurity paradigm that endows smart industry with the ability to detect falsified digital information and self-heal in the face of cyberattacks. Sundaram is a contributing member of the Cybersecurity and Data Analytics for Industrial Control Systems (CYNICS) group, led by Hany Abdel-Khalik, associate professor at NE.

Recipients of the award are honored for their "outstanding research accomplishments and scholarly engagement." 

He said, “This award has been a massive encouragement to continue my work, and I hope it attracts prospective students to the department. I believe that awards such as this are an important source of motivation for graduate students as they continue to push the boundaries of nuclear engineering.”
