Alexandre Chan Tome

Biography

Alex is a junior in electrical engineering at Purdue University and a member of the GEARE program. He conducts undergraduate research through the VIP Semiconductors@Birck program, contributing to both the solar cell and photolithography and metallization SPC teams. He has worked on photovoltaic solar cells, achieving measurable performance improvements and optimizing semiconductor processing techniques, including rapid thermal annealing and BOE etching. For SPC, he improved resist thickness uniformity and identified key sources of error in photolithography and metallization processes through data analysis.

This summer, Alex served as a peer mentor for the Purdue STARS Program’s manufacturing track, where he worked with STARS students to analyze MIM capacitors and determine the optimal edge rate for HfO2 deposition. He also completed a research internship at the SIRI Lab at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.

Alex serves as treasurer for both the Purdue Billiards Club and the Hong Kong Student Association. He enjoys playing pool, organizing tournaments and participating in cultural events with fellow students.
