Biography

Tort became director of the Office of Professional Practice on March 1, 2026. Tort has more than 20 years' experience administering experiential learning programs with a track-record of success. This includes 12 years at the Office of Professional Practice where he has served as assistant director Global Professional Practice, associate director Professional Practice and managing director, Office of Professional Practice. In this time, he has aided in the growth and development of several professional practice programs including co-op, GEARE, Interns for Indiana, Milestones, industry talent certificate programs and professional skills training courses. He is the recipient of the Purdue College of Engineering Long-Term Impact Award, College of Engineering Team Award, Michael A. Brzezinski Intercultural Learning Champion Award and Purdue University Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Award. Tort is a two-time Leah H. Jamieson Leadership Award finalist and was one of seven inaugural Experiential Learning Champions for Purdue University. He is well-known across campus for his spirit of collaboration and ability to get stuff done.
