Jermaine Williams Jr.

Biography
Williams Jr. (he/him) is the Assistant Director of Computer Science Internships and Student Development. With over six years of experience, he has been committed to developing and mentoring college students while curating more inclusive and equitable learning environments in higher education. Before joining Purdue University, Williams Jr. served as an area director in the Division of Educational Outreach and Student Services at Arizona State University.
He holds a BS in informatics with a specialization in human-centered computing and an MA in arts administration from Indiana University. Williams Jr. is currently a doctoral candidate in the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Arizona. His dissertation titled “To Be Reel: A Narrative Inquiry of Black Student Placemaking and Digital Engagement,” utilizes digital and arts-based research methods to explore how students engage with digital landscapes as sites and/or tools for placemaking on college campuses.
Williams Jr. is a professional member of the National Society of Black Engineers and has served as a collegiate advisor for the Indiana University and Arizona State University chapters. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with family and engaging in creative works of photography and film.
