Marek Gibson

Marek Gibson is a junior in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering who has completed four Co-Op rotations with Cummins in Seymour, IN at the Seymour Engine Plant (SEP) working as a Manufacturing Engineer. Cummins is a worldwide leader in the diesel engine and after-treatment markets. SEP is within the power systems business unit and produces high horsepower engines with the 19L, 30L, 78L natural gas, 95L, and V903 engines.

During his time at SEP Marek was involved in every facet of the manufacturing process working rotations in Operations, Quality, Materials, HSE, and in the Manufacturing and Product Engineering groups. His project work covered a wide base including cost reduction, risk assessment and management, throughput improvements, quality control plans and tolerances, and product design and revision. He concluded his time at Cummins by winning the North American regional impact award for Innovative Designs and Original Solutions as part of the Global Ergo Cup Award. Marek’s favorite role was being able to work as a Test Validation and Performance Engineer in the testing cells for engines coming off the assembly line.

At Purdue Marek is actively involved in several organizations. These include the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Lilly Scholars Network (LSN), Chess Club, Intramural Sports, as well as being the president of the Professional Practice Ambassadors (PPA).

In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, gardening, and golfing.
